Dios Los Cria formed in Bogotá around 1996, when childhood friends Mateo Mateus and Daniel Botero started playing together. They were later joined by Nicolás Ospina on bass, Juan Felipe Moreno on guitar, and Germán Martínez on drums. In 2003, they released their debut album '1-2-3,' which included the title track that became a national hit in Colombia.
Their music sometimes addressed social issues, which drew both strong support and criticism. In 2006, they were involved in a legal dispute with musician Camilo Echeverry over alleged plagiarism, though it was settled out of court. They followed their debut with albums like 'Testigos' in 2006 and 'Colores' after that.
Among their songs are '1-2-3,' 'Amplifica El Amor,' 'Arderas,' 'Bananero,' and 'El Hueso.'
