Diplomacy formed in Los Angeles when vocalist Aidan James met guitarist Ethan Reed. Their debut single "Undertow" came out in 2006, and its moody sound caught some attention. The band's lineup included James, Reed, bassist Blake Carson, and drummer Marcus Grant.
They put out albums like "Ashes to Ashes" in 2009 and "The Weight of the World" in 2013. Songs like "Silver Lake Queen" and "Last Dance" show their preference for atmospheric rock with James's vocals up front. At one point they worked with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In 2010, James made some remarks about the music industry that stirred things up. The band kept going with occasional lineup shifts, but James and Reed stayed at the center.
