Disarmonia Mundi

Disarmonia Mundi formed in Italy in 1994, started by vocalist Ettore Rigotti and guitarist Claudio Ravinale. Their name translates to "Disharmony of the World," which gives a sense of the territory they were exploring. They released their debut EP that same year, and by 2000 they had put out a full-length album called "Nebularium."

Their sound pulls from symphonic and industrial textures within a metal framework. The track "Celestial Furnace" is often mentioned as a high point, alongside songs like "Flare" and "Same Old Nails for a New Messiah." Over time, the lineup included drummer Björn "El Diablo" Strid, whose playing added a particular weight to their recordings.

They've faced the usual band challenges, member changes and the grind of making music outside the mainstream. Their work, like the album "The Isolation Game" and the song "A Mirror Behind," tends to dwell on darker, more discordant themes, which fits with the name they chose from the start.
