The group started with musicians Marius Ergo, Frode Gjerstad, and Sindre Bjerga, working with electronic music, noise, and improvisation. Their lyrics often took aim at consumerism, surveillance, and media influence.
In 2004, they released an album called "Mediabullshit," with a title track that became their most recognized work. The song criticized media sensationalism and misinformation, using direct language about "media lies" and "cheap sensationalism." This track sparked debate, with some listeners finding it a sharp critique and others calling it inflammatory.
After that album, Dodeskaden put out records like "Super" in 2006, "In Darkness Let Me Dwell" in 2008, "A Holocaust of Ecstasy" in 2010, and "Supernova" in 2012. The lineup shifted over time, with Ergo and Gjerstad staying as core members, and others like Andreas Tylden on drums, Johan Berthling on bass, and Trond Wiger on trombone joining at points.
