Archive material and source history

Dodô Diplomata was a Brazilian band from Recife that worked with brega music in the 1970s and 1980s. The group was led by Dodô Ferreira and Osvaldo Rodrigues, with Severino Ramos on bass and Chico Mário on drums. Their song 'A Caminho do Brega' came out in 1972 and became popular across Brazil.

They put out albums like 'Brega é Chic' in 1974 and 'O Rei do Brega' in 1976. Other tracks include 'Piseiro da Seleção Brasileira' and 'Ela Gosta da Safadeza'. The band played live shows and released a concert recording in 1979.

Dodô Diplomata kept recording into the early 1980s with 'O Som do Brega' in 1982. Their music stayed connected to brega styles while reaching a national audience during that period.
