Dom Brás is a Brazilian music collective that formed in the early 1990s. The group includes André Brás on vocals and songwriting, Pedro Bernardes on guitar and arrangements, Marcos Suzano on bass and composition, and Mestre Zinho on percussion and vocals. Their sound draws from samba, jazz, and MPB, the shorthand for Brazilian Popular Music.
Their 1998 song "Café" became a national hit and sparked some debate about its lyrics, which some listeners interpreted as promoting drug use. The band maintained the song was an allegory for everyday life. Other songs in their catalog include "3 da Tarde," "Como vai você," "Escala Zero," and "Fora d'Água."
They released their self-titled debut album in 1997, followed by the "Café" album in 1998. Later records include "O Sonho Não Acabou" in 2000, "Mais do Que Eu Possa Sonhar" in 2003, and "Pra Sempre" in 2007. They also put out a live album in 2010 and a tribute album to writer Jorge Amado in 2012.
