Dom

Dom was a Brazilian band that formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s. They were led by vocalist Fernanda Takai, with Christiano Caldas on bass and Pedro Altério on drums. Their sound mixed folk, rock, and electronic elements in a way that felt distinct from what was happening in the mainstream at the time.

In 2005, they released their self-titled debut album, which included the song "Desespero." That track became their breakout hit, known for its haunting melody and Takai's ethereal vocal delivery. The lyrics had a poignant quality that connected with listeners, and it pushed the band into a wider spotlight.

Dom kept recording through the 2000s and 2010s, putting out albums like Ao Vivo no Cine Joia in 2007, A Música de Tom Jobim in 2008, and Espaço in 2018. Takai wrote most of their material, and her introspective lyrics and distinctive voice defined much of what people remember about the band's music.
