Don Felder joined the Eagles in 1974, replacing Bernie Leadon on lead guitar. His playing became part of the band's sound on songs like "Hotel California" and "Life in the Fast Lane." He was dismissed from the group in 1980 after a dispute with Don Henley, which led to a lawsuit that was settled years later.
After leaving the Eagles, Felder released his first solo album, "Airborne," in 1983. That record included the track "Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride)," which appears among his most popular solo songs. Other songs like "Still Alive" and "Bad Girls" also show up in his catalog.
Felder grew up in Gainesville, Florida, and started playing guitar as a teenager. He formed an early band called The Continentals before his time with the Eagles.
