Die, toen die bom viel, een sigaartje stond te roken
Hij kreeg een middelgrote scherf recht voor zijn raap

Een bomeskader vormt het teken van de V
Boven de woonwijk, die zich kromt onder de knallen
Een koppel duiven vliegt een eindje met ze mee
En om in stijl te blijven laat er een iets vallen
Oom Jaap was heel zijn leven lang op rust gesteld
De grote stilte was voor hem het grote streven
Hij kon al schrikken van het vallen van een speld
En zoeen komt nou zo luidruchtig om het leven!
Een tankcolonne ratelt door de stille straat
En werkt de kinderhoofdjes uit het wegdek boven
Een boort zich dwars door een sig'rettenautomaat
Wat in de strijd tegen de kanker valt te loven
Oom Jaap zijn stokpaard heette Orde en Fatsoen
Iets laten sling'ren vond hij net zo erg als vloeken
'Geef zelf steeds 't goede voorbeeld', stond er in zijn blazoen
Nu moet mijn tante hem straks bij elkaar gaan zoeken
Er liggen militaire spullen in de goot
Een groot gedeelte is nog prima te gebruiken
En 'en passant' gaan overal soldaten dood
Wanneer de wind ongunstig is kun je het ruiken
