Dona Moça

Dona Moça formed in Belo Horizonte in 1999 around singer-songwriter Ana Carolina, with bassist Bruno Fortunato and drummer Marcelo Camelo. They spent their early years playing bars and clubs, working through the usual financial and audience challenges that come with starting a band.

Their 2002 single "Ela não te ama" became a radio hit, moving them from local shows to wider attention. The song's direct lyrics about unrequited love drew both praise and criticism, which seemed to suit the band's approach.

Other songs like "Amor Secreto" and "Ciúme Que Devora" continued in that vein of straightforward emotional storytelling. They kept recording and playing, building a catalog that feels more like a steady presence than a dramatic rise.
