That song, "Menina," carries a straightforward melody that stuck with people. The group released a self-titled album in 2000 and a live recording in 2003. Their music pulled from Brazilian rhythms but kept things accessible, never straying too far from a pop sensibility.
Over time, some of the original members moved on. The early lineup included Tânia Gomes, Ana Quaresma, Djanilda Assis, Lucinha, Ana Paula, and Janete, all handling vocals. They listened to singers like Elis Regina and João Gilberto, but their own sound stayed uncomplicated and direct.
