Doomsword

Doomsword formed in Detroit in the late 1970s, with guitarist Rick Daniels and vocalist Michael Jones at the center. They worked through lineup changes while playing local clubs. In 1983, they put out their debut album 'Swords of Doom,' which gave them a title track that became a staple.

That album and songs like 'Gergovia' and 'Sacred Metal' helped define their sound. They kept recording through the 1980s and into the early 1990s, with albums like 'Death's Embrace' and 'Armageddon.' The band's lineup has included bassist Jack Smith and drummer Jimmy Carter alongside Daniels and Jones.

Doomsword's music often dealt with themes of battle and mythology, as heard in tracks like 'The Youth Of Finn Mac Cool' and 'Battle At The End Of Time.' Their straightforward, heavy approach earned them a following among fans of traditional metal.
