Douglas Jewell

Douglas Jewell is a singer-songwriter from Fortaleza, Brazil. He started playing guitar and piano early on, and his voice has a raw, ethereal quality that caught some attention. In 2013, he put out his debut album, 'Ande Nas Águas', which included the title track and other songs like 'Ascensão' and 'Eu Voarei'. The record mixed folk and bossa nova with Brazilian popular music, and it found listeners both at home and abroad.

After that first album, he kept releasing music, with records like 'Reverie' in 2015 and 'Transcendence' in 2018. His songs often deal with themes of love, loss, and longing, as you can hear in tracks like 'Vou Para a Glória'. The arrangements tend to be spare and intimate, built around his voice and acoustic guitar.

In 2015, Jewell was arrested for drug possession, which led to some public criticism. A few years later, in 2019, he faced allegations of inappropriate conduct from a fan, though he denied them. These incidents have been part of his story, but he's continued to write and record, putting out another album called 'Ethereal' in 2022.
