Downscape formed in Los Angeles in the late 2000s with vocalist Anya Willow, guitarist Ethan Reed, bassist Oliver Hayes, and drummer Jacob Carter. They played small venues for a while before signing with Aetheria Records. Their debut album 'Whispers of the Void' came out in 2012, and its lead single 'Calm Waters' became a fan favorite.
They've put out a few albums since then, including 'Echoes of the Past' in 2015 and 'Visions of the Future' in 2019. Their songs like 'Coffin Of Steel' and 'Quarter Past Life' tend to work with ambient textures and introspective lyrics. In 2017, guitarist Ethan Reed left the band following misconduct allegations.
Downscape released another album called 'Solace in Solitude' in 2022. The core of the band has mostly stayed the same aside from Reed's departure, with Willow's vocals and the group's layered arrangements defining their sound.
