Downsyde formed in 1998 in Western Sydney with members including MCs Misunderstood, Dazastah, and DJ Suffa. Their music often dealt with suburban life and social issues, which sometimes drew criticism for being too confrontational.
Their 2004 debut album "When the Dust Settles" got attention in Australian hip-hop circles, particularly for the track "Lesfortunate." The song became something of an anthem for listeners who identified with its themes of resilience.
They went on to release several more albums, including "All or Nothing" in 2006 and "The Hardest Chapter" in 2011. Dazastah left the group in 2012.
