Downthesun formed in Los Angeles in 1995 and put out their debut album 'Cursed' in 1997. Their songs like 'Listen' and 'Enslaved' came from that period, when they were mixing grunge and alternative rock with some electronic touches.
In 2001, guitarist Ryan Yeadon died in a car accident. The band kept going and dedicated their 2002 album 'Departure' to him. They released 'The Dawn' in 2009, which included tracks such as 'Eye Confide' and 'Jars'.
Jason Hill sang and wrote most of the material, with Alex Garcia on bass and Tommy Myer on drums. They worked with Dave Navarro and Moby at different points. A lawsuit over royalties came up around 2009 and got settled out of court.
