Dowsing

Dowsing was a band from the Pacific Northwest that released music in the late 2000s. Their debut single "Maxwell" had a quiet, atmospheric quality that caught some attention. They put out two albums, a self-titled one in 2007 and another called "The Gemini" in 2009, before disbanding that same year.

Their songs like "Amateur Cartography" and "Dinos" shared that same spare, reflective mood. The band's lineup included Justin Vernon on vocals and guitar, Brad Cook on drums, and Brian Moen on bass. Their music didn't follow the louder conventions of much alternative rock at the time.

After they stopped working together, "Maxwell" kept finding listeners who responded to its particular sound. The song's continued presence in playlists and recommendations says more about its quiet persistence than any grand narrative about the band's place in music history.
