Dox89

Dox89 formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s, playing a raw style of punk that connected with listeners during a difficult economic and political period in Brazil. The band was led by vocalist Vitor Vianna, whose intense delivery and personal struggles became part of their story. Their music drew criticism from some corners for being too abrasive or nihilistic, but they developed a loyal following who responded to the directness in their songs.

In 1991 they released their debut album 'Sem Esperança', which included the title track that became a kind of anthem within Brazilian punk circles. The lineup at that time featured Vitor Vianna on vocals, Fábio Barros on guitar, Ricardo Florêncio on bass, and Gabriel Fernandes on drums. Their recorded output was limited, but that album left a strong impression on the underground scene.
