Draco

Draco formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s around vocalist and guitarist Luiz Guilherme 'Scatter' Camargo and drummer Israel Bueno. Their sound drew from NWOBHM and thrash metal, finding an audience in Brazil's underground scene. Their debut album 'Angústia' came out in 1990, with the title track becoming a notable ballad about existential themes.

In the early 1990s, the band faced criticism from some conservative groups over their lyrics and stage shows. They kept releasing albums like 'O Silêncio dos Inocentes' in 1993 and 'Corações Ardil' in 1996, with bassist Eduardo Tomazelli joining the core lineup. Other songs from that period include 'Dentro de Um Pesadelo' and 'Louco da Estrada'.

Draco put out 'Revolução' in 2000. Their music stayed aggressive and direct, avoiding the polished production some metal bands adopted. They never became a mainstream international act, but maintained a following in Brazil for their unadorned approach to heavy metal.
