Dream Asylum formed in Santa Barbara in 1987 around singer Katherine Blake, with guitarist Dax Stetson, bassist Eric Rodriguez, and drummer Sean Hayes. Their debut album 'Invisible Scars' came out in 1990, and its single 'Falling' got some attention for its moody melody and Blake's vocals.
They put out a few more records before calling it quits in 1995. Some of their other songs, like 'Just Let Me Know' and 'Living Without You,' kept a similar tone, melancholy but with a bit of guitar edge.
It didn't reinvent anything, but it found an audience that connected with its particular shade of gloom.
