DRIFTED formed in 2011 from what remained of the band Vicious Rumors. Their original lineup included vocalist Dustin Bates, guitarists Matt Froehlich and Jason Kreuger, bassist Shane Simmons, and drummer Nick Nicholas. Bates brought a raw vocal style to the group, and his background as a child of deaf parents informed some of his songwriting.
In 2014 they released their debut album 'Born Into Servitude,' which included the title track featuring Joe Edwards. The record got some positive attention for its heavy sound and Bates's lyrics. Around 2016, bassist Shane Simmons left the band and was replaced by Aaron Corning.
In 2018, Bates faced allegations of inappropriate behavior from a former fan. This led to an internal investigation and Bates eventually stepped down from DRIFTED. The band's catalog includes songs like 'Healer,' 'Lies And Negativity,' 'No Front Teeth,' and 'The Grey.'
