Drugi Način formed in Split in 1977. The name translates to "Another Way," which gives you a sense of their approach. The original lineup included Zlatko Arslanagić on vocals, Đorđe "Đera" Balaban on guitar, Vjekoslav "Šoki" Buljeta on bass, and Željko "Slepo" Brodarić on drums.
Their 1979 album "Slomljena Stakla" contained what became their most enduring song, "Balada o Osmjehu." The track's haunting melody and lyrics connected with listeners across Yugoslavia. The band faced some censorship from authorities who found their music provocative, but they kept working.
Internal tensions led to Buljeta and Brodarić leaving in 1981. Arslanagić and Balaban continued with new members, releasing albums like "Kao U Ranijem Životu" and "Sve Oko Mene" through the 1980s. They kept recording into the 2000s with albums such as "Nebo" and "Ogledalo."
