Drugo Stanje formed in Ljubljana in 1999, with Tomaž Milan on vocals, Miha Koren on guitar, Andrej Matk on drums, and Žiga Stanonik on bass. Their debut album "Kantavtorski album" came out in 2002. The lineup shifted over time, with Klemen Klemenc joining on guitar in 2005 and Jernej Škulj taking over bass duties in 2010.
They followed with albums like "Pop Depression" in 2008, "Ultra" in 2012, and "Vse je laž" in 2016.
In 2012, a concert in Maribor was disrupted by far-right protesters objecting to the band's social and political commentary. Milan's lyrics often address drug use, mental health, and existential questions, drawing both criticism for perceived nihilism and praise for their directness.
