The Druid Boyz came out of McDonough, Georgia in the early 2000s. They were originally Jaheim Wyche, his brother Jerome, and their cousin Rod Hill, who performed under names like Soulja Slim and Yung Joc. They started playing local clubs and house parties, drawing some influence from New Orleans bounce music.
In 2005, they released "Crank Dat Druid Boy," which became a national hit. The song had a simple, chantable hook and came with a dance that spread quickly. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart that year.
After that peak, the group put out several albums and mixtapes, including My Life in 2006 and Back to the Future in 2007. Rod Hill left in 2011 to work on solo material, and the Wyche brothers continued as a duo.
