Dub Hip Hop

Dub Hip Hop came together in Bogotá, Colombia in the early 2000s. Their sound mixed dub reggae with hip hop and Latin rhythms, which felt fresh at the time. The group included DJ Pacho on turntables, Munkey on vocals, Ely Guerra on guitar, and Javier Rodriguez on drums.

Their first album was 2003's Estilo Max Steel, named after the track that became their calling card. They followed it with El Sonido de la Calle in 2006 and Revolucionando in 2010. Other songs like Bate de Quadrado and Chuva de Negroni kept their catalog moving.

Some listeners in both reggae and hip hop circles weren't sure about their fusion approach, but they kept at it. The music had its own space, built around Pacho's production and Munkey's delivery.
