Dudu Nogueira

Dudu Nogueira grew up in Madureira, Rio de Janeiro, and started playing music as a kid. He eventually joined the samba group Fundo de Quintal as a percussionist and vocalist. In 1999, he put out his first solo album, which included the song 'Coração Besta.'

That track became popular enough to give him some recognition on his own. He's known for writing about social and political topics, which has sometimes drawn criticism. In 2006, his song 'Eu Sou Negão' sparked some debate about its content.

Nogueira kept making music that addressed everyday issues in Brazil. His work with Fundo de Quintal and his solo material both draw from samba and bossa nova rhythms.
