DumDum Boys formed in Trondheim in 1985 with Prepple Houmb on vocals, Kjartan Kristiansen on guitar, Aslak Dørum on keyboards, Sola Jonsen on bass, and Arve Engen on drums. Their debut album 'Blodig Alvor - Na Na Na Na Na' came out the following year and found an immediate audience in Norway.
Their 1992 song 'Stjernesludd' became something of a national touchstone, its melancholy melody and lyrics about love and loss connecting with listeners in a way that few Norwegian rock songs had before. It's still one of their most recognizable tracks, alongside earlier songs like 'Blind' and 'Boom Boom'.
The band went through some lineup changes and a brief pause in the late 1990s before returning with albums like 'Grav' in 2001 and 'Tidsmaskin' in 2014. They've kept a steady presence in Norwegian music since, with Fredrik Skogberg eventually taking over on drums.
