Dumex Yang Lion formed in São Paulo in 1999, originally with vocalists MC Sine and MC Marechal, DJ Dida, rapper Buju, and percussionist MC PA. Their debut album 'Deixa Ruir' came out in 2001, followed by 'Pra Quem Gosta de Samba' in 2004. MC Marechal left the group in 2005, and MC Chorão joined around that time.
They released several albums including 'O Samba Roda o Mundo' in 2007 and 'Depois de Tudo' in 2017. The song 'Depois de Tudo' became particularly well-known. The group's music draws from hip-hop, funk, and samba traditions.
Dumex Yang Lion has toured internationally and their lyrics often address social issues. The current lineup includes MC Sine, MC Buju, MC PA, DJ Dida, and MC Chorão.
