Dupla Jukebox formed in 1999 when Emil Guevara and Daniel Alfaro, childhood friends from Lima, started making music together. They began with borrowed instruments and makeshift recording setups, eventually releasing their debut album 'Corazón de Pueblo' in 2002. That album included 'Cusco Brasino,' a ballad about the ancient city that became a national hit in Peru.
Their sound mixes Andean folk and pop, with Guevara playing charango and Alfaro handling zampoña and cajón alongside their vocals. Another track, 'Lida Loca Campeira,' appears among their most recognized songs. They've put out seven studio albums through 2019, including 'El Regreso' in 2004 and 'Sucesos' in 2016.
In 2010, they faced plagiarism accusations over their song 'Cantinero,' though the matter eventually quieted down. They received a 'Luces' award for Best Andean Group in 2013.
