Dupla Shekinah formed in 2003 when Roseli de Sousa Silva and Flordelis de Oliveira met in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. They named the duo after the Hebrew word for God's presence. Their 2005 album "Foi Ele" included the song of the same name, which became popular in Brazilian gospel circles.
Flordelis was elected to the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in 2019, which brought some attention to the duo's work. They've continued performing together while maintaining their focus on gospel music. Another of their songs, "Volte Meu Amigo," has also found an audience among listeners of Brazilian Christian music.
