DWLLRS started in Nashville around 2016, built around singer Dustin Lovelis and guitarist Mike Montalbano. Their early work had a quiet, atmospheric feel, with Lovelis's vocals and Montalbano's guitar lines creating space for reflection. They put out an EP called 'Blue Spirits' in 2017, which gave a good sense of where they were headed.
After some lineup changes, they added drummer Connor Meehan in 2019 and bassist Jesse Ketterman in 2021. Their full-length album 'Sunlit Youth' came later, with a bit more instrumentation but still holding onto that introspective quality. Songs like 'Float Through The Ceiling' kept things drifting and open-ended, never quite settling into one genre.
