Archive material and source history
Dystorção formed in Guarulhos, São Paulo, in the early 1980s. Their debut album 'Cidade Moleque' came out in 1984, and they kept recording through the next few decades with albums like 'Anti-Heróis' and 'História de Vida'. The band's lineup included Fábio Sampaio on vocals, Carlos "Peixe" Lopes on guitar, Fábio "Mamãe" Siqueira on bass, and José "Chuck" Simões on drums.
Their shows sometimes ran into trouble with authorities, who didn't like what they saw as provocative lyrics. In 1985, their set at the Hollywood Rock festival ended early after an onstage disturbance led to some arrests. They kept playing anyway, putting out records into the 2010s with 'Vivendo e Aprendendo'.
Songs like 'Cidade Moleque' and 'Garapa' became staples of their live sets. They released a compilation called '20 Anos de Hardcore' in 2004, marking two decades since that first album.
