The band had five members: José "Cuco" López on vocals, Ernesto "Tito" Rosario on guitar, Rafael "Rafo" Castro on keyboards, Roberto "Robe" Torres on bass, and Luis "El Flaco" López on drums. They mixed salsa with rock and funk elements, which gave them a distinctive sound during that period.
In 1984, they put out "Angel Del Barrio," a single that became their most recognizable track. The song dealt with neighborhood struggles and caught on with listeners. Other songs like "Los 10 Mandamientos Del Rap" and "Señorita" also appeared in their catalog around that time.
They released several albums through the 1980s, including Dyzeck Love in 1981, El Baile de los Que Sobran in 1983, La Última Cena in 1984, and El Nuevo Mundo in 1987. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social issues, which occasionally drew criticism from more conservative quarters.
