E a Vaca Foi Pro Brejo formed in Salvador in 1984 with Guto Goffi on vocals, Paulo Guel on guitar, Jorge Zarath on bass, and Célio Curty on drums. Their debut album 'Elo Pedroca & Rocha Perdido' came out in 1988 and found an audience quickly.
Their songs like 'A Festança Dos Átomos' and 'Império dos Sentidos' mixed samba, rock, and reggae with lyrics that could be satirical or just plain funny. They put out albums through the 1990s and 2000s, including 'A Vida do Artista' in 1994 and 'Eu Sou a Vaca' in 2008.
The original lineup stayed together until around the early 2000s, when Célio Curty left.
