E-Lhoy formed in Monterrey, Mexico in the mid-2000s with a sound that mixed synth-pop, rock, and traditional Mexican music. Their debut album came out in 2006, and the single 'Bendita Diabla (Apaga La Luz)' became a hit across Latin America and Europe. The song's provocative lyrics about forbidden love and desire got attention, both positive and negative.
Some conservative groups criticized the band's lyrics and image, and a few radio stations wouldn't play their music. The lineup changed over time, with members including Lalo Suede on vocals and guitar, El Cholo on bass, El Profe on keyboards, and El Oso on drums. They released four studio albums between 2006 and 2016.
Another track, 'Oye Baby (part. Yanncy),' also appears among their top songs.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
