Earl Musick

Earl Musick was a five-piece band from Los Angeles that formed around the turn of the millennium. The group included Earl Musick on vocals, Jared Spayde on guitar, Cody Sokol on keyboards, Jesse Smith on bass, and Ted Quinn on drums. They put out their first album in 2003.

That debut was called 'A Good Thing Just Got Better,' which shares its name with one of their better-known songs. The record got them some attention, and they followed it with a few more albums over the next several years, like 'The Space Between' in 2005 and 'The Edge of the World' in 2007.

Their music mixed rock with some electronic touches from Sokol's production. Songs like 'American Dreamer' and 'Bright and Shiny Blues' show the kind of melodic, guitar-driven sound they worked with. The band dealt with the usual industry pressures and disagreements, but they kept recording through the 2000s before winding down after their 2010 album 'Asylum.'
