Earthside

Earthside formed around 2001 with guitarist Ben Wilkins, bassist Mark Buchanan, and drummer Connor Willison. They've worked in progressive metal, though their sound leans toward atmospheric textures rather than pure technical display. Their 2017 album 'A Dream In Static' gives a good sense of their approach, with the title track featuring vocals from Daniel Tompkins.

They often bring in guest vocalists for specific songs rather than maintaining a permanent singer. 'Crater' features Björn Strid, while 'Mob Mentality' includes Lajon Witherspoon alongside orchestral arrangements from the Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra. Another track, 'Contemplation Of The Beautiful,' features Eric Zirlinger.

Their music tends toward the cinematic and expansive, with less focus on traditional verse-chorus structures than on building mood and atmosphere. They've been active for over two decades now, though they maintain a relatively low profile compared to some of their genre peers.
