Eastern Odyssey

Eastern Odyssey formed in Seoul in 2016, a group of musicians interested in combining traditional Korean sounds with rock. They worked on their material through live shows and rehearsals before things shifted in 2018. That year, their song 'Home' connected with listeners and became a hit, which led to their first album, 'The Journey Begins.'

Their albums since then include 'Beyond the Horizon' from 2019, 'Echoes of the East' from 2021, and 'Equilibrium' from 2023. The band uses instruments like the gayageum and daegeum alongside standard rock setup. The lineup features Jiyoung Lim on vocals and guitar, Minjoo Kim on piano and keyboards, Jinho Lee on bass, and Sunghoon Park on drums.

Some listeners have questioned how they blend the traditional and modern elements, but the group has generally kept making music on their own terms. They're still putting out records and playing shows, working with the sound they started with back in Seoul.
