Easy Shapes came out of Detroit in the early 2000s with a sound that mixed punk, grunge, and experimental rock. Their debut album 'Brain Dead' arrived in 2002, anchored by the title track and songs like 'Complaining' and 'Falling.' The band was fronted by vocalist Jesse Cross, whose lyrics often dealt with dark themes and mental states over raw guitar work and driving bass.
As they gained attention, Cross's writing and the band's intense live shows drew some criticism. There were creative tensions within the group, and by 2007, Easy Shapes had broken up. They left behind a handful of songs that still connect with listeners, including 'Taking You Somewhere' and 'We Are Kings.'
