Editor's note

Ebram RD's occult rock from Mexico City

A band that mixes rock with traditional Latin rhythms and Aztec mythology.

For a good sense of their sound, try "Dame Una Oportunidad" or the title track "Brujeria." They're both pretty representative of what they do.

They've carved out a specific lane with their occult rock sound, pulling from Aztec death deity Mictlantecuhtli for their name. Songs like "Dame Una Oportunidad" and "Madre" show how they blend rock energy with Mexican instrumentation. Their lyrics about witchcraft and ritual drew early skepticism, but they built a following without watering anything down.

They started with their debut album "Brujeria" in 2005, then followed with "El Ritual" in 2008. By 2011's "Venganza Celestial," they were incorporating electronic elements alongside those traditional rhythms.

Ebram RD is a band from Mexico City that plays what's sometimes called occult rock, mixing rock with traditional Latin rhythms. The name comes from Mictlantecuhtli, an Aztec deity of death. Their lineup includes Erick Escobar on vocals, Bram Lazcano on guitar, Rodolfo Salinas on bass, and Daniel Sandoval on drums.

They released their debut album "Brujeria" in 2005, which introduced their style. That was followed by "El Ritual" in 2008 and "Venganza Celestial" in 2011, which incorporated electronic elements and Mexican instrumentation. Some of their songs include "Dame Una Oportunidad," "Madre," and "Te Alabaré."

Early on, their lyrics with occult and witchcraft themes drew some skepticism from conservative listeners. They kept to their vision anyway, building a dedicated following without diluting their approach.
