Eclipse Real formed in São Paulo in 2001, a group of skateboarders who started playing music together. Their song 'Homenagem a Chorão Sk8' pays tribute to the Brazilian musician Chorão while connecting that energy to skate culture.
They released albums like 'Cem Por Cento Skatista' in 2002 and 'Vida de Skatista' in 2005. In 2005, lead singer Xandão was diagnosed with leukemia, which paused the band's activities for a few years before they returned in 2008.
Their music has a melodic punk feel that draws from both Brazilian rock and the rhythms of skateboarding. While some of their lyrics and advocacy have drawn criticism, they've kept playing shows and putting out records, including the 2013 single 'Homenagem a Chorão Sk8'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
