Archive material and source history
Ed & Mark were a Brazilian forró duo from Piauí. They came from Bom Jesus do Gurguéia and met in Teresina, the state capital. Their biggest song was "É Bagaceira (Não Sou Empresário, Mas Tenho Escritório)" from 1992.
That song became popular in forró circles, with lyrics about working the land while dreaming of something better. They released several albums through the mid-1990s, including A Danada in 1993 and Forró Sem Freio in 1995.
Some critics questioned their lack of formal training, but their music connected with listeners in Brazil's northeast. The duo was made up of Edvaldo Alves da Silva and Marco Antônio Vieira.
