Ed Prosek

Ed Prosek grew up in Carlsbad, California, a coastal town north of San Diego. He started writing songs early, drawing from rock influences like The Beatles and Tom Petty that show up in his straightforward melodic sense.

In 2006, his band released their debut album 'California,' which included the title track that became his best-known song. That record also featured 'Weak Heart' and 'I Could Never,' songs built around clean guitar lines and Prosek's unadorned vocal delivery.

He put together his first band around 2001 with bassist Mike Eddy, guitarist Dan Wilson, and drummer Chris Mars. They played clubs and festivals around California for several years before recording that first album.

Some of his other songs, like 'Give It All' and 'Don't Fuck This Up,' have a similar directness, lyrics about place and relationships set to midtempo rock arrangements that don't overcomplicate things.
