Edda

Edda formed in Reykjavík in the late 1990s with Magni Ásgeirsson on vocals and guitar, Elvar Smári on bass, and Sigtryggur Baldvinsson on drums. Their debut album 'Andvari' came out in 2000, featuring the track '2000 Ev' which became a hit in Iceland. The band's sound drew from post-punk and shoegaze influences, creating atmospheric rock with lyrics that often carried a melancholic tone.

Over time, Edda's lineup changed, with Steindór Andersen joining on drums and Pétur Guðmundsson on guitar. They released several more albums including 'Upphaf' in 2002, 'Mun' in 2005, and 'Vera' in 2010. Songs like 'A Barát' and 'A Híd' show their continued exploration of moody, textured rock.

Edda maintained a steady presence in Icelandic music through the 2010s with albums like 'Í draumum' in 2015 and 'Ísjaki' in 2018. Their music, while not always straightforward in its themes, found an audience drawn to its atmospheric quality and emotional weight.
