Eddy Wally

Eddy Wally was born Eduard Van De Walle in 1932. He started playing accordion at 12 and worked as a market trader before his music career took off. That early experience gave him the material for his big hit, 'Als Marktkramer Ben Ik Geboren,' which came out in 1968 and became a national sensation in Flanders.

Record producer Johnny Hoes signed him in 1966, and his debut album 'Eenmaal Is Geenmaal' came out that year. After the success of 'Als Marktkramer Ben Ik Geboren,' he released albums like 'Chanson d'Amour' in 1969 and 'De Marktkramer Leeft' in 1970. Other songs in his catalog include ''k Ben In Amerika Geweest' and 'Cherie.'

Wally died in February 2016 at age 83. His music, often described as Flemish pop with schlager and waltz elements, remained popular at weddings and parties throughout his career despite some criticism about its simplicity.
