Eder is a Dutch indie folk band that formed in 2016 around vocalist and guitarist Casper van der Lans, bassist Dennis van der Giessen, and drummer Mike de Jong. Their sound carries some of the quiet, introspective quality you might hear in Nick Drake or Jeff Buckley, but they work it into their own arrangements. They put out their debut EP 'A Distant Shore' in 2017, then followed with the album 'Lost Atlas' in 2020.
That 2020 album included the song 'Alice,' a ballad that got some attention. Their catalog also includes tracks like 'Lugar de Mulher É Na História' and 'Ce Tá Me Seduzindo.' The band writes collaboratively, and their lyrics tend to circle themes of love and loss without much polish.
In 2019, Eder faced plagiarism accusations over a song called 'The Woods,' which they denied. Some listeners have also questioned whether their consistently melancholic tone is too heavy. They've kept making music through that, sticking to their lane in the indie folk scene.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
