Edgar Italiano

Edgar Italiano came up in Salvador, Bahia, where he started playing music in the late 1990s. He put together a band with guitarist Márcio Bahia, bassist Paulinho Costa, drummer Marcos Santos, and percussionist Adalberto Maia. Their first album was self-titled, followed by records like 'Febre da Bahia' and the one named for his big song, 'Força da Natureza'.

That track, 'Força da Natureza,' became his most recognizable piece. It's on the list alongside songs like 'Jajão,' 'Sky (Ep Regresso),' and 'sorry (Angola Recordz).' His music pulled from the rhythms around him in Bahia, but he worked them into something of his own.

He kept recording through the 2000s, with tracks like 'Tamo Aqui' and 'Te Amar Atoa (Angola Recordz)' showing up in his catalog. The sound stayed grounded in those Brazilian roots, even as it found listeners outside the country.
