Archive material and source history
Edgar Jones Jones formed in the late 1980s around vocalist and songwriter Ethan Ravenwood. They were a quartet that included guitarist Dylan Hawthorne, bassist Marcus Blackwood, and drummer Adrian Stone.
Their debut album 'Necessary Evil' came out in 1991, giving the band its first real foothold. The title track became their most recognizable song, built around Ravenwood's vocals and Hawthorne's atmospheric guitar work.
They released three albums total, working in a space between gothic rock and post-punk. The music tended toward darker themes, but without the theatricality some of their contemporaries embraced.
