EDILSON MACIEL

Edilson Maciel came up in Caculé, Bahia, a place with deep roots in samba. As a teenager, he started playing with a band called Grupo Sem Compromisso at local festivals. His 1989 single 'Vai Começar a Festa' caught on widely, becoming one of his best-known songs.

He kept recording through the 1990s, putting out albums like 'Forró do Edilson Maciel' and 'Samba de Verão.' His music from that period is remembered for its energy and vocal passion. Other tracks like 'Quando o Amor Aflora' and 'Como Te Esquecer' show the more reflective side of his songwriting.

In the early 2000s, Maciel faced some personal and financial difficulties that slowed things down for a while. He returned to performing later, and by 2014 he was marking 25 years in music. He's often played with a band that includes guitar, bass, surdo, cavaquinho, and repique de mão.
