Edison Lighthouse was a British pop group formed in 1970, best known for their hit 'Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes).' That song, written by Tony Macaulay, reached number one in the UK and several other countries in 1970. The band's lineup included Tony Burrows on vocals, Stuart Edwards on guitar, David Mount on bass, Brian Hugg on drums, and Chris Stewart on keyboards.
Their success was complicated by the fact that Burrows did not sing on the original recording of 'Love Grows'; session singer Tony Christie provided the vocals, which led to some criticism about the band's authenticity. Despite the single's popularity, follow-ups like 'In The Bad Bad Old Days' and 'Melanie Make Me Smile' didn't achieve the same chart success.
Edison Lighthouse disbanded in 1971 after releasing a second album that didn't perform well commercially. Tony Burrows later pursued a solo career, while the other members moved on to other musical projects.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
